Texas Sheet Cake

This recipe has been passed around several time. I got it from one of the girls at a place I use to work. It is delicious. The pan must be the correct size for it to turn out right.

Cake batter
    2 cups flour
    2 cups sugar
    1 stick margarine
    1/2 cup crisco
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1/ cup water
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 tesapoon baking soda

Put flour and sugar in a large bowl. Bring margarine, crisco, cocoa and water to a rapid boil. Remove from heat and pour over flour and sugar mixture. Stir well, add remaining ingredients and mix all well. Bake in greased 11x17x1 inch sheet pan (jelly roll pan) for 15 minutes at 400 degrees. (Size of pan is important).

Icing
    1 stick margarine
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1/3 cup milk
    1 box powdered sugar
    1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
    1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Mix margarine, cocoa, and milk in a pan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the remaining ingredients. Mix well and frost the HOT cake.
